achi PREMIUM BEAUTY BRAND LAUNCH IN LOS ANGELES, CA
ACHI, Beauty Luxury Line Set To Launch Fall, 2017

Los Angeles, CA -October, 2017- achi is a premium beauty luxury line created by Valerie Anderson, who is a seasoned expert in the nail industry. Anderson currently owns several businesses in the Manhattan Beach, California area. After much anticipation, Anderson is now sharing her nail passion with the world through her new lavish line of luxurious scented gel nail polish and beauty tools.

The achi brand has created a nail polish that uses a formaldehyde-free formula, which yields exceptionally pigmented color, wherein consumers no longer need to resort to multiple applications to achieve the desired color. The cruelty-free gel polish is made in Japan and has a sweet, strawberry scent, making the polish unrivaled within the beauty industry. There are 45 colors in the collection and nail enthusiasts will be happy with the range of nude polishes that the brand offers. achi’s top and base coats are known for no peel and no lift adhesiveness.

A natural and cruelty-free product is key when launching a luxury brand that also appeals to the consumer and industry experts. Creating a scented polish using a natural fragrance took months of perfecting, “the amount of oil to use without affecting the adhesion and pigmentation was quite the challenge.” States Anderson, but these types of beauty products need precise results to develop a long-lasting nail gel. achi’s distinct scented gel polishes stay on your nails after multiple washes. achi ‘s Nail gels were inspired by vintage perfumes and will leave a scent to create nostalgia everywhere you go.

In addition to scented gel polishes, achi is launching a single finger curing lamp which has LED lighting and allows a convenient and user-friendly gel application. This Unique curing lamp sets gel polish in place so it will last up to three weeks. The product will be sold individually and in package sets which are a perfect gift for any occasion. Inspired by a fierce pair of stilettos, achi is also launching a line of premium yellow and rose gold plated tweezers.  With a fierce design unlike any other, the achi tweezer will be the sexiest tool in your beauty bag.

achi’s elegant packaging was inspired by Anderson’s love of Owls. After visiting the famous Owl Cafe in Japan, Valerie knew that this was the ultimate symbol for her unique product.   Owls represent “wisdom and femininity, along with magic and mystery,” Anderson is confident that her beauty products design and features will allow one to feel beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside.

achi will be releasing new beauty tools and products in addition to the one of a kind scented nail gels. For more information about achi, please visit www.HouseOfAchi.com @houseofachi

GET THE LOOK: TARAJI P. HENSON AT THE EMPIRE PREMIER

As Empire gears up for a much anticipated fourth season, Taraji. P. Henson debuted a FIERCE new look at the show’s season premier last night. Her signature flawless skin was downright iridescent as she stepped out with a trendy new hairstyle to show off her statement ear candy - #WANT.
Taraji’s go-to makeup guru, Ashunta Sheriff shares how to capture her lit-from-within glow:
 SKIN
  • I always start with clean skin and I love using NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Cleanser to begin so pores are really clean.
  • I then used MAC Vibrancy Eye Cream, Strobe Creme in Pink Lite, Prep and Prime and Lip Conditioner to prep and condition her skin.
  • I used MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC45 all over and MAC Mineralize Concealer in NC30 in her t-zone to create a subtle lift.
  • I contoured and sculpted cheekbones and nose with Film Noir Matte Blush.
  • Then I popped checks with wrapped Candy Extra Dimension Blush and added a high watt ‘POW’ on cheekbones with Mineralization Skin Finish in Gold Deposit. I added Soft Focus on top for an alien luminescent glow.
  • Finally, I set look with MAC Prep + Prime Finishing Powder using a large powder brush and Setting Spray for a night full of carpets and cameras to hydrate skin and give it a fresh look.

GET THE LOOK: Sonequa Martin Green Emmys 2017

Celebrity makeup artist Carola Gonzalez worked with Emmy presenter, actress Sonequa Martin Green to create an effortless and timeless look for tonight's Emmy Awards. Below is the specific breakdown of how to get the look as seen on Sonequa, but if you have specific questions or were interested in speaking with Carola, please let me know.
Carola's inspiration tonight: "I wanted the focus to be mainly on Sonequa's skin and eyes. I wanted her skin to glow and for her beautiful almond shaped eyes to stand out. I wanted her to look fresh, and sophisticated just like the woman she is."

Skin: To prep the skin I used Glossier Priming Moisturizer Buildable Hydrating Cream. She has oily skin, so this light, hydrating moisturizer worked perfect on her skin. It gave her the proper hydration without making it greasy. I applied it all over her face and neck and let it sit for 5 min until it was fully absorbed. Then I began makeup application.

Concealer: To highlight, conceal, and even out  Sonequa's skin I applied Glossier' Stretch concealer in Dark 30. I first applied the Dark concealer under the eye area to conceal dark circles and brighten the area. To highlight and reflect light, I also applied it on the bridge of the nose, center part of the forehead, and middle chin.

Foundation: I used Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in Golden Honey 5.75 Applied it all over the face and neck with a sponge and used a brush for blending it into the skin.

Blush: Nars Isadora layered with Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder Rich.

Eyes: I used the Westmore Beauty Hollywood Eyecons Eyeshadow Palette. I started by applying, as a base, the Bombshell Shade. With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I applied it all over the eyelid and on the inner corners of the eye to brighten the area. I then layered the Glamorous shade and applied it on the outer edge of the eye working it towards the middle of the eye and crease. To blend both eyeshadows and merge them together, I used a blending brush with no eyeshadow and went over the eye in circular motions until completely blended. To accentuate the outer edge of the eye, I applied Leading Lady eyeshadow and worked it on the skin with a very small brush to get more pigment from the shadow and intensify the eye. I also applied Leading Lady under the bottom lash line to create a shadow liner effect. I finished the eye by applying Elizabeth Arden's Eye Smokey Eye Pencil in Smoky Black on the under rim area of the eye.

To intensify the eye I added a lash strip of Cameo Eylure Mink Effect Lashes and added a few coats of mascara to upper and bottom lashes with Le Volume de Chanel mascara #10.
Lip: I always like to do the lips at the end, it's what adds the final touch and completes the makeup  look. I used Westmore Beauty's Lip Glamour in Nude. This shade truly complimented everything. It had a hint of color, but didn't compete with the eyes nor the color of the dress.
Setting: The last step is to set the makeup before walking out the door and into a red carpet. For this I used Glossier's Wowder light/medium shade. Using a powder puff, I padded the powder into the skin to remove the shine.

National Elephant Appreciation Day and The Elephant Pants

Do you like Elephants? Do you like Feelin' Good? In celebration of National Elephant Appreciation Day on September 22nd, The Elephant Pants are out to Save Elephants and Feel good.

They will be donating $1 from every item sold for Elephant Appreciation Day to TUSK, who provide the most promising solutions to the crisis facing Africa’s wildlife. Use the code ELEPHANTAPPRECIATION10 for $$ off your purchase. It will be valid from 12am Friday (September 22) until 3am Monday (September 25).

If you have not heard about these pants, you have definitely seen someone on the street with the bold printed harem pants that are embellished with The Elephant Pants' signature elephants. I saw them at a street party on the Fourth of July.

The Elephant Pants ideal for lounging but I found that I can pair them with a blazer and heels and wear them to work on casual Friday. The fabric is soft but doesn’t provide much stretch except for the waist band. The sizing is perfect for most body types, including plus size. Each harem pants come in fun colored print is also named after a real life elephant!

For every pair that a customer purchases, The Elephant Pants donates $1 to the African Wildlife Fund, who is currently running the “Say No Campaign.
Pros
  • Comfy
These are some of the most comfy pants and are light, breezy, and versatile. They can be worn almost anywhere if paired with the right shirt, blazer, and shoes, etc.
  • Affordable
The price point runs around $18-25 a pair. (Shipping is not included)
Cons
  • Quality
Being plus size and have thick thighs that rub together my thighs rub the material together and wore them thin. With an already thin material, the thigh area on these pants wont last long for me and I will rub a hole in them.
  • Shrinkage
The first pair of elephant pants I washed, I used cold water and tumble dried them on the lowest heat setting possible. Unfortunately, they shrunk a bit in length and in the legs. With me being 5’11” I saw that the length shrinkage was going to be an issue. So now I have to cut them into capris or wear them with high socks. I will continue to wash these pants in cold water and just hang them to dry, I wish I would have known that before I dried them the 1st time, live and learn.
Overall I am very happy with the pants. I would purchase them again because they are super comfy, the amazing print, and their efforts to help animal wildlife.

Tracy Reese NYFW SS18 How to Get The Look/Cantu

Yesterday, Cantu took the NYFW stage again at Tracy Reese’s SS’18 presentation. The show was inspired by the message that ‘Every Woman has a Story’ and featured a mix of models alongside real women. During the presentation, each woman shared what made them unique, what they believed in, or what inspired them – all in their native tongue. The beauty look embraced individuality enhancing each woman’s multifaceted personality.

Hair How To: Understated Blowout

Inspiration: Embracing the texture of each woman, we wanted to create a simple yet wearable style that allowed the fashion to be the main focal point.

Hairstylist: Bok-Hee for Cantu

·         Step 1: Start by spraying roots and lengths of hair with Cantu Refresh Dry Co-Wash for a clean, conditioned base.
·         Step 2: Next, spray hair with Cantu Thermal Shield Heat Protectant and blow hair out smooth using a round brush.
·         Step 3: Once hair is smoothed out, use a 1 ½ inch curing iron to create subtle curls at the lengths. When finished, loosen up the curls with your fingers for a more subtle wave.
·         Step 4: Lastly, mold hairline around the part and face using Cantu Extra Hold Edge Stay Gel to stand up slightly.
